Shared Household Visits

Many shared households have welcomed Cohouseholding Project visitors as we learn more about what makes this way of life operate more sustainably. We are grateful to the many who have opened their homes and hearts to us.

These are "shared households." Whether or not a particular house is a "cohouseholds" awaits fuller development of our definitions.

Synchronicity LA

Synchronicity LA is a cooperative community house of 11 residents: artists, musicians, social workers, teachers, scientists, engineers, filmmakers, cooks, historians, and more. They meet once a week, divide up chores, go on retreats, open their doors to folks from all around the world to eat and stay with them, host monthly artistic salons, share friendship, laughs, tears, beers, cheers, enjoy their hot tub and art space and music room and roof and foods!

Fantastico

Fantastico was formed by former members of Berkeley Student Cooperatives. The image shows their innovative chore tracking system. Oz attended the Monday Spaghetti Dinner, a 5-year-old tradition for Berkeley households.

Prudence Crandall House

Prudence Crandall House (PCH) has evolved their 1970's model of feminist collective living into the 21st century within their 1908, 3,000-sq-ft Craftsman house on the Berkeley-Oakland border. They have evolved from four single women of two generations to a stable mixed household / home of 5 wonderful adults, a teen and 2 children. PHC was formerly known as both Alcatraz & 66th St CoHousing.
